ExxonMobil’s Speedpass: we were in at the start

We were in on the ground floor as Speedpass was developed at Mobil in the early 1990s. The now-familiar wand was one of the first instances of sales-boosting RFID technology at work. We helped develop the copy points: that Speedpass is a quick and easy way to pay for purchases at participating stations, easier, faster, and more secure than credit cards, just “wave it and go!”

We also helped Mobil develop the Speedpass logo, now displayed prominently at thousands of Mobil and Exxon service stations and inside On The Run convenience stores across the nation. (And, yes – it’s a kick to see your work so highly visible just about everywhere you go!)
